Dr. João Quevedo has a degree in Medicine (1993-1998), specialization in Psychiatry (1999-2000), fellowship in Psychopharmacology (2001-2002) and Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry) (1999-2002) from the Federal University of Rio Grande. He is currently Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at McGovern Medical School, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), Houston, TX, USA.
He serves as Vice Chair for Faculty Development and Outreach, Director of the Translational Psychiatry Program and the Treatment-Resistant Depression Clinic. He is also full professor of Psychiatry and coordinator of the Translational Psychiatry Laboratory at the University of Extremo Sul Catarinense (UNESC), Criciúma, SC, Brazil. He is also editor-in-chief of the Revista Brasileira de Psiquiatria, and organizer, together with Antônio Egídio Nardi and Antônio Geraldo da Silva, of the Psychiatry Update Program (PROPSIQ) of the Brazilian Psychiatric Association.
