Dr. Rodrigo Machado-Vieira is a specialist psychiatrist from the ABP, Master in Biochemistry and Doctorate in Psychiatry from the University of São Paulo – USP (2005). Post-Doctorate in Neuroscience at LMP, National Institute of Mental Health, NIH, USA, where he was also Director of the Translational Research Clinic in Mood Disorders, NIMH, NIH, USA. Dr. Machado-Vieira is Full Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas, where he is also Director of the Experimental Therapeutics and Molecular Pathophysiology Program, UTHealth, Houston, Texas, USA.
He is Associate Editor of the Revista Brasileira de Psiquiatria- RBP and of the Archives of Clinical Psychiatry (Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, USP) and member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Affective Disorders, Frontiers in Neuropharmacology and Journal of Neural Transmission. His awards include the Award for Research Excellence from the National Institutes of Health, USA and the Gerald Klerman Investigator Award from the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA), USA.
