Trained as Specialist in Psychiatry (University of Cincinnati Hospital, Ohio, EE.UU., 1993-1997), Fellow in Biological Psychiatry (1996-1997) & Specialist in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (Cincinnati Children´s Hospital, University of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, 1997-1999). Was Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Cincinnati (1999).
He then was appointed Director of the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Unit, at the University of Navarra Clinic, Pamplona, Spain (1999-2019), where he was Vice-Chair of the Dept. of Psychiatry & Medical Psychology. He developed and Directed a Postgraduate Fellowship Training Program in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, the only one in Spain (where Child Psychiatry was not recognized as Specialty till 2021), and trained 10 Fellows and over 90 Residents/Rotators in Psychiatry, Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Psychology and Nursing. He also developed an important Pediatric Psychopharmacology Clinical Trials program, with multicenter European collaborations, mostly on ADHD and Mood disorders, and this helped to approve several new medications for ADHD in Spain and the rest of Europe.
