Osvaldo P. Almeida

Dr. Osvaldo P. Almeida has been the Professor of Geriatric Psychiatry at the University of Western Australia since 2001. He studied medicine at the University of São Paulo and completed his basic training in psychiatry at the Hospital das Clínicas da USP in 1989. Four years later, he completed his PhD (PhD) in geriatric psychiatry at the London Psychiatry Institute, returning to Brazil in 1994 to work as an assistant professor and associate professor at USP and Santa Casa de São Paulo. He later accepted the position of associate professor of geriatric psychiatry at the University of Western Australia, where he has resided in Perth with his family since 1998.
Professor Osvaldo is a clinical researcher interested in modulating and mediating factors of mental disorders in the elderly. Among its publications are 387 original articles, 28 editorials, 9 books, 53 book chapters, and several abstracts. His works have received more than 31500 citations and his H index is currently 93.
